Yes, I am pretty sure it is called Santa Cruise. It supposedly overlooks Mile island. So I am guessing it is on the west side of the island from my trying to piece the location together. I have never been to Beaver Island so I am not familiar with the location. We used to go to Charlevoix every summner and always wanted to go, so she is there with friends who HAVE gone many times before. I am guessing cell service must not be too great where she is at.
Assuming all is ok, I will hear from her I am guessing, once she gets back to Charlevoix. She has to stop at Jullierettes to get me a loaf of their amazing cinammon bread.

I didn't get the personal message, but that is ok. She just text messaged me. Thank god. Apparently she doesn't get service her message said, but she is alive, she loves me and will see me next Saturday.
I am assuming she must have gone into town and got service. Thank you Marie and Cathy for your help.
I do want to say, that this is a great forum and everyone on it is so friendly. Seems like everyone knows everyone. I live in a suburb of Detroit, a city, with a population of a little under 6,000 which seems huge compared to Beaver Island, and everyone here is the same way...friendly and small town atmosphere. I love it.
Again, thank you. And some day I hope to visit your Island.

ATT outage
I just received a phone call from Jessica Miller representing herself to be from the "Office of the President" of AT & T (her direct line phone number is (717-526-5635). She was calling me in response to my recent filing of a complaint with the Public Service Commission. She states they are working diligently to resolve our outage issues and promises to stay in contact with updates....(time will tell)...but I appreciated her call thanked her for her call. I also offered her the web address to our forum and that it may be of a "good faith customer service" idea that the "Office of the President" on behalf of AT&T join the forum with contact information and updates. She said she would take it into consideration and share the B.I. Forum info with her office.
It continues to be VERY important for anyone that is a AT&T cell customer affected by the outages we have been experiencing to call AT&T...and especially file a complaint with the Public Service Commission that Richie posted.....this seems to be getting their attention.
Best of luck to all....lets hope AT&T stands behind its word.

I just received this note from the PSC, I did write her back and suggest that it is too bad they don't oversee this but perhaps this will give them some kind of a push in the right direction:
"We are in receipt of your complaint concerning this problem.
Please be advised that cellular telephone service is not subject to jurisdiction by this Commission. Therefore, we have ano rule and regulations that would apply to this situation. However, in an effort to assist customers with their cellular phone problems, we do submit their complaint to the company for investigation and review. This process takes about ten business days. Once we have received a response, we will let you know.
Sincerely,
Debbie Hopkins
Service Quality Division"

Is there other cell phone service on BI? If so, is it more reliable? And if not, perhaps contacting another provider to see if they have any intention of providing service to the Island might help AT&T get their act together if everyone threatens to switch. Just a thought from someone who really doesn't know much about the history of the situation.
I had a call from ATT this morning, apologizing profusely. Got a credit but I told her what I was looking for is consistent service!! Anyway I did discuss with her the 3 towers sitting idle here. She was going to mention it to higher ups but I am told that the cost to outfit a tower is very significant so who knows.........
