Questions on wheelchair access on the Island
Hi, We are thinking of visiting your island. We have a wheelchair user in our clan. We are wondering if there are any places on the island that are accessible for wheelchairs (i.e. restaurants, stores). Looking for those with experience with wheelchairs - as sometimes just having a ramp doesn't mean accessible - as I'm sure those traveling with w/c's know what I mean.
Also, I can't find much info on the public beaches (like pictures). We'd like to see what access is like -for instance if there are any with a grassy patch near parking so the person in the wheelchair could actually get close to the water and enjoy the day.
Any insight you could give would be Great!
Many Thanks!

The public beach has a paved parking area right adjacent to it that wheelchair users can easily move about in and there are wheelchair accessible restaraunts and taverns that they can gain access to as well as public restrooms etc. Many of the motels are grade level accessible too. People in wheel chairs are seen here often in the season. The ferry has a wheelchair lift also so come see us!!

Thanks for all the responses
Thanks for all the tips on Beaver Island accessibility!
Now that the family is excited to plan our vacation - we found out that the (accessible) cabin we hoped to rent for a week is only renting by the month
So, we'll contact the hotels on the island and see if they have accessible rooms.
If anyone out there know's of another accessible cabin (besides Dan's Den), let us know. Many Thanks!

Wheelchair accessibilty
Beaver Island is a quiet and beautiful place to visit year round.
We just wanted to let you know our restaurant and pub are both wheelchair accessible with a wheelchair accessible restroom. We have a wonderful menu to please most everyone, with the majority of it home made. We hope to see you on your visit.
Our best to you,
