SLIDE on Beaver Island

Post by anniep »

SLIDE is a quintet from Ireland hailed as, "the future of Irish music." by Radio 1, Ireland. Currently playing at the Wheatland Music Festival, they will be in Traverse City Sunday, BI Monday, Frankfort Tuesday, Cadillac Wednesday and then on to Rochester, New York.

They were recently featured on the cover of Irish Music Magazine and are contenders for one of the main headline spots at next year's Irish Fest in Milwaukee.

They will be flying in courtesy of Island Airways Monday morning, performing for the BICS students at 1pm and a concert for the public at 7:30pm. Following the evening performance they will join concertgoers and patrons out at Donegal Danny's Pub for a beverage! The Stoney Bus will be available for rides. Special thanks to Beth and Joddy Crosswhite for generously opening their home to the whole band.

These guys know the Island is "America's Emerald Isle" but not much else. Check 'em out at www.slide.ie and come give 'em a great big Beaver Island Welcome!

I, too, saw Slide at Wheatland and was bowled over by their talent and energy. I'm on the Program Committee for the Wheatland Festival, and if there's someone on the Island we could refer Celtic groups to...in case they're interested in "block booking"...please email me at kstableford@yahoo.com, and I'll let the committee know. WAY COOL!
