Anyone have some postcards to donate?

Post by BIDL »

The Beaver Island District Library and Beaver Island Historical Society applied for a grant to have the Beaver Beacon digitized by Clarke Historical Library at CMU. This is a competitive grant that relies upon VOTES by postcards and tweets. One postcard = 10 tweets. If any business (or individual) has postcards of Beaver Island they would like to donate to the cause of collecting votes for this effort, please drop them off at the Library. The postcards must be postmarked after March 15 and arrive before March 28. I will post more on this later, but want to collect some postcards for people to send if there are any out there collecting dust.

You can make your own postcard between March 15 and March 21 at the BIDL and we will batch send them. Blanks and art supplies will be available at the Library between those dates.
Let's make this work folks! The old editions of the Beaver Beacon (1955-2001) are deteriorating with time. This is a great opportunity to get them preserved!

For those of us off-island who might like to support this effort, can you please provide the address where cards should be sent? Thanks.

I will drop off some King Strang postcards from Keith on Monday. Good project! I have a Beaver Beacon from 1956 which was given to me by Lawrence Malloy too.
