From Mara McDonough...

Obituary

Geraldine “Geri” Marie (Cunnally) McDonough June 5, 1917 – October 21, 2020 age 103 – Born to Lawrence & Marie (Kaiser) Cunnally. She had one sister, Vivian and two brothers, Lawrence and James. Geri married John “Allie” McDonough on June 3, 1944. She was a wonderful and loving mother to Therese (Bob) Murphy, Cherie (George) Gabriel, John (Nancy) McDonough, Eddy McDonough and Jimi McDonough. Grandmother to Billy (Letty) Murphy, Cherie (Steve) Schmidt, Danny (Viola) Murphy, Tommy, Erin (Steve), Katie (Chris) Pytell, Jean Gabriel, Allison McDonough, Johnny McDonough, Mara McDonough, Eddy (Becca) McDonough, Leah (Jacob) Hook, Lora (Jesse) Middleton, and Jack (Brittany) McDonough. Geri was blessed with 25 Great Grandchildren. Megan, Caitlin, Erin, Marie, Michael, Cullen, Devin, Decklin, Cassidy, Kelley, Seamus, Kevin, Maille, Christopher, Sean, Kaiden, Kalla, Kace, Maddux, Noah, Ryleigh, Ryan, Drew, Allie and Evan.

Geri thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and grandmother. If you would ask any single one of her family members, they were her favorite. As Geri raised her five children, she was always busy taking care of her home, making the clothes they wore, and enjoying all the friends who came over. Geri would always have her grandchildren stay the night, or nights. Each of them has stories of the breakfast that would be waiting as they woke, followed by lunch and the dinner bell right at 5:00. A slice of apple pie (that Pa made) or Oatmeal Cookies with vanilla ice cream could likely be found for dessert. As the years passed by, there would be a meal waiting for the occasional visit from any of her family (and the friends that would accompany them). She had a way to listen and give the best advice. The memories continued to be made with all her loving family who would be a phone call away or those who could come over to visit. Geri was a wonderful neighbor who was always smiling and very welcoming. Halloween always consisted of homemade popcorn balls and a pot of Chili for all the ghosts and goblins coming to trick or treat. Her Christmas cookies were the best of the best and everyone knew about them. Although these last few years it may have been harder for her to get around, her heart was still beating strong and full of joy upon each visit from her family. Everyone who met Geri always loved her, as she would have a genuine compliment for them that she would share and that they would never forget.

Geri was cared for at her home by her son Jimi and daughter Cherie, along with the help of others when needed. Their constant love and care for her was natural. As a family, we thank them for their countless hours being there for “Mom/Grandma” with whatever she needed or didn’t. Whether it was a stroll in the night or to go to the kitchen on her own, they were there for her and so much more. Your love for her and the help you always provided was no doubt a reflection of who she was.
We know that Geri was welcomed to Heaven by her Husband, Allie, her son Eddy and son-in-law George along with her several other family members including her Mother, Father, Sister and brothers, along with her in-laws who went before her.

At this time, there will not be any services. The family of Geri McDonough appreciates all the kind words and stories that have been shared during this time.
