The Beaver Island Natural Resources and Eco-tourism Steering Committee (NRESC), an advisory board to the Peaine and St. James Townships, is holding a public meeting Saturday, March 2, starting at 10 a.m. at Peaine Township Hall to review and discuss draft recommendations for a natural resources management plan for the Beaver Archipelago. There will be presentations by three NRESC subcommittees working on different draft goals for the plan:
· Effective Management of the Beaver Archipelagoâ??s Natural Resources
· Economic Growth Derived from Our Natural Resources
· An Environmentally Informed Public
This is the next step in the NRESC planning process, which is scheduled to be completed by May 1. It is an opportunity to provide feedback/suggestions that will affect the content of whatever recommendations the NRESC makes to the Township boards.
