Odd question, but when was the last murder on the island?
Looked around on the web and found nothing real current.
Some of us that visit a few times a year were talking about
the island and the topic came up...just curious.
Thanks
Dave

Sorry Dave. If I told you I'd go to prison.

Well I live outside Flint, they run around 60 per year and I think
the conviction rate is about 35-40%. You're pretty safe.
BTW. Do you own a backhoe?

Dave, I guess you haven't heard about what happened to the last guy who asked that question...

No actual murders, Dave, but let's just say that many people consider it, especially during our long winters. Around 2006, there was a headline in our police blotter that read: "Man assaulted with hamburger bun at the Shamrock!" (I swear I'm not making it up!)

Wasn't there a Vietnam vet who lived in a shack in the woods who was killed in the seventies? Somebody killed him just after he received his monthly benefits check?

A long time ago Ernie Martin told me he walked into what I think he said his old fishing building on the lake. There was a group of men who had another islander standing on a chair with a noose around his neck and was going to hang him. Some guy was believed to be messing around with a married woman on the Island and according to Ernie they had the wrong guy as there was some confusion about who actually did it because there were two families with similar sounding last names. So the story was told........... Ernie saved the mans life, but Ernie was always saving people!

Thanks for the replys, there really was nothing sinister about
the question. We were talking about visiting the island and I mentioned it's one of the few places I go and don't "carry".
This lead to wondering about the last time someone was
killed or beat, robbed, shot...etc.
Must be a boring place to be a cop.

I was a cop for 25 years. Take my word for it. To a cop, boring is good.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that it wasn't.
