Family and friends, it is with great sadness that our family announces the passing our brother, John.
Thank you to everyone that has expressed their condolences. We truly appreciate your kindness.

McDonough, John Patrick, age 57, of Grand Rapids passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and Robert (Holiday) McDonough, sister, Judy Lynn, and sister, Roberta Kay. John will be lovingly remembered by his fiancée, Christine Fillman; his children, Hannah Marie McDonough and Bryce Robert McDonough, precious granddaughter, Presley Rose, and Laura, mother of his children; a special uncle, Wilbur Jude (Verdena) Martin; siblings, Mary Sue (Mike) Anderson, Kathleen (William) Graham, Sally Koeze, Philomena (Alan) Heintz, Beth Ann (Craig) Behrens, Gail (Charles) DeLeeuw, Sharon (Kent) Grove, Patricia Iciek, Robert S. John’s family would like to acknowledge the many expressions of love and concern shown to us since John’s passing. Your kindness reaffirms how much our family and friends mean to us, and we will always remember your expressions of sympathy. Though John is absent from the body, we take comfort in knowing he is now present with the Lord, our parents, and loved ones.

John was a very talented finish carpenter. He always cared for others and had a big smile to go with his great sense of humor. He loved Beaver Island and Lake Michigan and had fond memories of sailing his boat near Port Sheldon. He also found joy in taking photos and movies of his children and granddaughter. John had a passion for music and enjoyed playing his guitar for his nieces and nephews.

Condolence messages may be sent to www.memorialalternatives.com. John’s wishes were to be cremated, and the family will hold a private gathering to celebrate his life. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Holy Cross Church on Beaver Island, or to a charity of your choice.
