Beaver Island Commission on Aging Chair Yoga

Post by Beaver Island COA »

Hello friends,

Here is a quick update from the Beaver Island Commission on Aging. But before the announcement let me share a joke that was told to me at lunch the other day.

Why did the cowboy get a dachshund for a pet? I will share the answer at the end of this post.

Chair Yoga times will change in August. Chair Yoga will be scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Beaver Island Gallery and Art Studio. This is a group activity that averages 45 minutes and there is NO CHARGE for Beaver Island Commission on Aging Clients. Those who are not clients and wish to participate in the class may make a $3 suggested donation to the Beaver Island Commission on Aging activity fund.

The Chair Yoga class is taught via video by a certified yoga specialist. Each video is prerecorded and provides a great way for older adults to get the wonderful health benefits of yoga. Staying seated means that seniors or those who aren’t flexible can safely do the exercises. Yoga is an excellent way for older adults to loosen and stretch painful muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation. It also reduces anxiety, helps lower blood pressure, protects joints, and builds strength and balance. It is a fun enjoyable workout, at least that is my experience each week.

Joke: Why did the cowboy get a dachshund for a pet? Answer: To get a long little doggie
Grace and peace be with you,
