From Lyle's wife, Jane...

I want to let everyone know that Lyle went to the happy hunting ground in heaven today. He was diagnosed a month ago with Leukemia and then got covid before he could start treatment. He had a severe case due the Leukemia and his lung couldn’t heal from the damage the covid caused. He was a great man and touched so may lives. With love from his loving wife, Jane.

Lyle Robert Merriam, 64 passed away on December 14, 2020 from Lukemia and COVID-19 complications at the University of Michigan ICU in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Due to current visitation restrictions at Michigan hospitals only is wife Jane and daughter Jeanette were allowed at his bedside, so son Mitchell and other relatives were able to be present over a zoom meeting to provide additional love and support during his passing. Lyle touched many, many lives with his outgoing personality, smile, and laughter. In honor of his memory please take a pause to shift your thoughts from how much you will miss him to all the good times, funny jokes, and many laughs that were had with him. So many already have and we cherish the out pouring of loving memories helping carry us through this tough time. Lyle is survived by wife Jane Merriam of Marquette, Michigan; daughter Jeanette Cantu of Las Vegas, Nevada and son Mitchell Merriam of Sturgis, Michigan; siblings: Louise Harris of Rexton, Michigan, Barbara Wood of Naubinway, Michigan, Merle (Becky) Merriam of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Leona (Steve) Skongberg of Faquay, North Carolina; and many other family and friends. Due to COVID restrictions there will be no funeral or memorial service at this time. We will notify everyone at a later date when we will be having a memorial service and a big celebration party in remembrance of Lyle’s life.
