Another Coyote Poison Bait Incident

Post by Marie LaFreniere »

Joddy and Beth Croswhite's dog ate poison bait (the dog was tested) this past weekend. The dog is not doing well at all. Whomever is doing this needs to stop.

This is the 3rd reported case of a family pet ingesting the bait. These are beloved pets of families. Joddy and Beth are very upset and beside themselves that they are more than likely going to lose the dog.

Whoever you are......please stop.

I would like to beg whoever is putting poison out to please stop. McKenzie Welke (our great Golden Retriever) ingested organophosphate (a very potent and dangerous pesticide) hidden in a can of sardines and meant to kill coyotes. She was a gorgeous, healthy, 1 year old dog. She was in a coma for weeks at the time of the poisoning. She nearly died in Paul's arms but only for the tremendous skill of Jeff Powers was she saved. The poison blinded her, damaged her joints, put her into kidney and liver failure, and ultimately ended her life before age 11. She should have lived 15 or 16 years because she was strong and well-bred but her life was shortened because of the careless, thoughtless act of the person who put out coyote bait. She SUFFERED needlessly. Again, Paul and I are begging you not to put any other animals through what McKenzie went through.

Our sweet yellow labrador, Saiah, is barely alive. She has been poisoned within a few blocks of our home in the Port St. James. Lab tests have determined that this was not a mouse poison. So we know that she did not get into D-Con. Her lungs, kidneys and liver have been affected. She nearly died on Sunday vomiting blood from her lungs. She hasn't eaten since Saturday. We are watching her day & night, praying she will survive.

Humans are killing dogs. Whoever you are, according to your rules...do we put poison out for you now?

Stop putting poison in the food chain! Stop trying to kill beloved pets!

We would like to extend our gratitude to Jeff Powers and Pam Moxham for all their continued help saving Saiah's life.

Our dog seems to be on the mend. She is eating small amounts of food and is slowly getting some energy back. Thanks for your thoughts & concerns. Let's hope no one else's pets are harmed.
