I had a surprise Tuesday taking a break from some maintenance on our cabin. Sitting out in Sand Bay was a Coast Guard ship, not moving. It remained there until this morning when it fired up its engines and got underway.
I’m curious if anyone knows why it was sitting off the coast for almost a day. I listened to WVBI to see if they had any information, but nothing so far.

I have had them anchor in Sand Bay in front of our place before. One year they met up with the Canadian Coast Guard and had a party on board with the Canadians. The party went into the early morning then in the morning they were back underway. I think it is a common happening, no Canadians this year.

The US boat is out of Cheboygan and is an ice breaker and bout attender, when not performing those duties they are involved in law enforcement.
