ANNOUNCING A FUNDRAISER FOR LOIE CONNAGHAN'S MEDICAL TREATMENTS: Sunday, February 5th from 4-7 PM at Dalwhinnie Bakery & Deli. A variety of soups and chili dishes along with bread & crackers will be served, and a cash bar will be available. Your donations will go toward Loie's medical treatments, details below -

As some of you may know, Loie Connaghan has been battling aggressive Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Recently she met with an oncologist at Karmanos Cancer Center in Petoskey, and learned that she is at Stage 3A. The good news is that the oncologist is confident that Loie would greatly benefit from chemoradiation. Overall, the treatment will take approximately 15 months. Loie and a caretaker will have to stay on the mainland for the duration of these treatments and that means lodging, meals and gasoline in addition to other expenses that incur with medical treatments.

A GoFundMe page (linked in comments below) has been set up online to raise funds for Loie's treatments, with this Sunday's in-person Chili & Soup fundraiser at Dalwhinnie Bakery & Deli meant to raise more immediate funds for this purpose. Please join us there this Sunday, February 5th from 4-7 PM for delicious food, camaraderie, and some tasty beverages in support of a good soul who has been part and parcel of the island community since her birth.
