Beaver Island Water Trail Update

At the Natural Resource Commission meeting this Thursday which followed an internal DNR review, a special land use order was granted to allow for designated campsites on state held lands.

"Resource Deputy Bill O'Neill -- on behalf of Director Keith Creagh -- approved:

Designated campsites on Beaver Island State Wildlife Area Research Area, which establishes campsites along a water trail being developed on Beaver Island."

Formal agreements and a water trail plan for Beaver Island are being developed with the assistance of the Land Information Access Association. This plan was funded through a grant from Coastal Zone Management/OGL and Charlevoix County Recreation millage and is due to be completed in December. Stay tuned for more updates.
