Sherman Kantzer - RIP

Post by Bob Sramek »

Sherman R. Kantzer, 74, of Bellaire, formerly of Cass County, IN, passed away on July 1, 2015 at his home. He worked hard at making a living and raised 4 children with his wife of 54 years. He raised a little hell, and tried to do his part to help those communities in which he lived. He often said that he wasn't always "right", but he was never in doubt! Sherman was born on February 1, 1941, in Twelve Mile, IN, the son of Ross and Laura (Moss) Kantzer. Sherman lived in Cass County IN. for many years before moving to Bellaire 2 years ago. While living in Indiana he owned and operated Tates Orchard, the Apple Dumpling Inn as well as the seven sections. On December 22, 1962, in Michigan City, IN, he married Gretchen A. Detwiler who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Anna (Mike) Wildermuth of LaFayette, IN, Nicholas (Jessica) Kantzer of Rochester, IN, Brian (Carolyn) Mikesall of Macy, IN, Liz Kantzer (Wally Disbrow) of Central Lake, MI, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, a brother Rex (Rose Mary) Kantzer of Logansport, IN, and a sister Valorie Higgs of Logansport, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents. Private family services will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
