COA Beaver Island Site Coordinator position available
Charlevoix County Commission on Aging is seeking a part time Beaver Island Site Coordinator for senior services. This position is Monday through Friday, 9a-2p for 25 hours a week. No holidays and will need to work one weekend Sunday per month, September through April. This position is responsible for the daily COA senior services for Beaver Island residents, based in the Community Center. The right person needs to love to work with seniors, and for seniors, on an independent basis. They should be creative, outgoing, dependable, flexible and have strong communication skills. You must possess the physical abilities to lift a maximum of 25 pounds and transfer items to and from vehicles and/or dining and office facilities. Must be able to answer phones, and operate a computer. Starting pay is $12.13 an hour and no benefits are provided.

Most of us know someone who's email or facebook was hijacked. Many of us have experienced fraudulent credit card activity. And who hasn't forgotten their password?
Chris Sorensen, Senior Cyber Security Researcher for GE Digital brings his 10-plus years as a Cyber Security Specialist to Beaver Island for some informational sessions with the BICS students (at the school), and Island Seniors and community at large (at the BIC Center).
In short, he teaches people how to prevent identity theft, secure their home networks, avoid online scams, and protect themselves and their family on the internet.
Chris speaks regularly about technology issues and writes a monthly column for the local newspaper. â??Tech Timeâ? features tips and tricks for keeping your family safe and secure on the Internet. See some examples here: http://www.trentontrib.com/?s=Sorensen
