A salute to the Master and crew of the mighty M/V Roger Blough who officially opened the 2007 shipping season at midnight by being the first vessel to lock through the Soo. A fine honor for such a beautiful boat!

Was the Roger Blough upbound? If so, I saw her entering the Lake St. Clair shipping channel just off Belle Isle on the Detroit River a few mornings ago.

No, Roger Blough was downbound loaded with taconite loaded in Duluth bound for Gary- The Philip R. Clarke of the same company was laid up in Erie PA, and departed early in the week bound for Green Bay- this may have been the vessel you saw.
