Beaver Island Ice Classic

Post by BobTidmore »

The tower is now on the ice next to the Beaver Island Marina. Guess when it will go into the water and win one-half of the ticket proceeds Last year it went in on March 29th at 8:56 PM. Tickets are $5.00 each or 6 for $20.00 and are available at McDonoughâ??s or from any Preservation Association of Beaver Island board member. If you are off the island and would like some tickets e-mail me at b_tidmore@hotmail.com and I will give you a call.

All proceeds go towards the construction of the Community Center

Just a note that today is the last day of ticket sales. We will post the winners share of the ticket sales this week.

Thanks for your support of the Preservation Association of Beaver Island and our efforts to complete the new Community Center.

Ice Classic Status

Post by BobTidmore »

The ice has opened up to the north of the Holy Cross Hall and out past the Coast Guard Station but there is still plenty where the tower is. See this site for a shot of the tower as of this morning and a couple of other photos. The big line secures the tower to the barge so it won't float away.

Thunder and lighting last night and lots of rain but the tower is still standing on the ice. This site has a photograph taken this morning.

The tower is in the water

Post by BobTidmore »

The tower went into the water at 2:52 PM on March 28th. I happened to be on the barge checking the clock when the ice started to move from the wind. The tickets are kept at the public library. Barbra Cruickshank and I went through the tickets and we had guesses of 3:00, 3:01, 3:02 and 3:14. The winner is Eddie Wojan.

This site has pictures taken this afternoon.
