OPEN MEETINGS ACT AND FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

Attorney Robin Luce-Herrmann of the law firm of Butzel Long will present information on the requirements of the Michigan Open Meetings and Freedom of Information Acts to members of Beaver Islandâ??s Township Boards, their Commissions, Committees and Boards and the public.

The information presented will include an explanation of the purposes of these Acts with a summary of the rights and obligations of government and the rights of the public under these Acts. The presentation will include opportunities for all those attending to ask questions and participate fully in discussions.

This meeting presents an important opportunity for all those attending to become more acquainted with the manner in which public knowledge and participation is encouraged at all levels of government.
