Unfortunately the water in beer does not count. The reason is that the alcohol acts as a diuretic and results in a net loss of water.

The same is true for anything with caffiene in it. So Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, coffee, tea all have the same effect.
