Hi, just wondering how the ferry's winter on the island? Are they locked in ice or do they use a bubbler system to keep the ice from forming around them?

Thanks... :D

The ferry's as well as a handfull of other steel hull boats (mostly tugs) can handle the pressure of the ice without the aid of blowers or bubblers.

The Beaver Islander ( the smaller boat) can be frozen in with out any difficulties. The Emerald Isle must have a bubbler around the bow to keep the ice clear of her bowthruster. Hope this helps.
