New Yearâ??s Eve Party

Post by Beaver Beacon »

The Beaver Island Fire Department and Auxiliary would like to thank those who donated to and attended the New Yearâ??s Eve party at the Holy Cross Hall. Our profit from that night totaled $666.24, due largely to the generosity of those who were present. We would like to take this time to thank those who contributed donations that were used for door prizes. Thank you to the Beaver Island Boat Company, Beaver Island Marine, Charlevoix State Bank, Chee Ping, Dalwhinnie, East Wind Spa, Richie & Laura Gillespie, Robert & Lisa Gillespie, Island Airways, Island Energies-The Station, The Lodge (Charlevoix), McDonoughâ??s Market, Out On A Limb, Pizza Hut, Powersâ?? Ace Hardware, The Shamrock, The Sleep Inn, Stoney Acres, and The Weathervane.

We are planning on hosting this event again this coming year. This being our first year organizing a New Yearâ??s party, we realized that there were a few kinks we need to work out. We have heard many comments about the kidâ??s karaoke that night. Most people remarked how nice it was that the kids and young adults had somewhere to go. We think it would be great to have them attend from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. next time. There was concern about having a DJ instead of a live band, but we felt that continuous music would be a benefit to all. Mike & Sharon Hurkmans of Mikeâ??s Island Karaoke did a wonderful job supplying the music that we requested. As this was their first time also, we were all unprepared for what kind of crowd to expect. We have discussed this with them and we have all learned a valuable lesson â?? never try to predict what people are going to want to hear. We would be glad to hear any suggestions or comments you might have concerning any aspect of that night. Please call Sheri Timsak at 448-2510 or Dawn Marsh at 448-2910
