On the dates listed above, Verizon Wireless will be completing service work to the cell phone towers on Beaver Island that will interrupt the cellular connection to all Verizon Wireless subscribers. Residents and Facilities that have landlines will not be affected and will be able to make phone calls with no issues. Any resident and guests who only have Verizon as their phone provider will need to connect to the Wi-Fi (Provided by TDS, Merit, Starlink, etc.) at their home or a nearby facility with Wi-Fi to make any needed phone calls or text messages.
Community Facilities on Beaver Island that have Wi-Fi.

• Beaver Island Community Center 26215 Main St., Beaver Island, MI 49782
• CMU Network Extender (Beaver Island Fire Dept.) 31775 East Side Dr., Beaver Island, MI 49782
• Beaver Island Township Airport 28215 Airport Rd., Beaver Island, MI 49782

FOR ANY EMERGENCIES, CALL 9-1-1 During the service work, if you have a landline where you are, use that to call 9-1-1. If you only have your Verizon cell phone, please make sure it is connected to your Wi-Fi and call 9-1-1. If you are unable to use the cell phone while connected to Wi-Fi to make any emergency phone call and you are able to travel, please either find the nearest landline phone or go to the Beaver Island Rural Health Center.
