Incredibly gorgeous classical guitar built in 2006 by veteran American luthier, Michael Thames of Santa Fe. The soundboard is 'bear-claw' European spruce, French polished with a beautiful amber hue, giving it a very antique look. The styling of the rosette and purflings is after the legendary German luthier, Hermann Hauser. Stunning Brazilian rosewood was used for the back and sides of the guitar. The tonal color is smooth, rich, creamy and complex, with good clarity and even tone across all registers. The guitar has recently had a fret leveling done on it and plays well. Structurally, the guitar is in near mint condition with only a few very minor dings in the finish. A nearly new Cordoba 'humicase' is included to protect the guitar.
-Scale: 650mm
-Neck width at nut: 52mm
-String spacing at nut: 42.5mm
-Action: 5/32", bass and 4/32" treble with plenty to go lower if desired. An extra saddle, which produces a slightly lower action is included.
-Finish: French polish (possibly oversprayed with lacquer)
-Price: $5,000
A great deal at this price, a new guitar from this maker will cost over $8,000 the last time I checked!
