At the recent Board of Directors meeting, officers were elected for 2003: Kathy Speck (President); Bill Thomas (Vice President); Roy Elsworth (Treasurer); Steve West (Secretary). Other serving directors are: Theresa Higdon, Pat Anderson, Rod Nackerman, Sheri Timsak and Jean Kinsley.

The directors adopted the Citizen of the Year selection criteria that was introduced last year when Don Vyse was voted by the Chamber to be honored as the first Beaver Island Citizen of the Year.

Criteria: An individual, couple, organization or business that has made a significant contribution to making Beaver Island a better place to live, work or visit.

Citizen of the Year nomination forms are available at the chamber office, Mon. - Fri., from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Anyone can submit a nomination, you don't have to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce. The nomination deadline is Fri., March 21. The award banquet will be Sat., April 12. at the Shamrock. Banquet tickets go on sale Mon., March 3, at the Shamrock and the chamber office. Seating is limited to 100.
