Do you want to search your Family History?

Post by BIDL »

The Beaver Island District Library now has Ancestry Library edition available to the public! We will have this available at the library for a year! So come in and get acquainted with your family history!
Also, sometime this winter and maybe into the summer and fall... we will be offering workshops to anyone wanting some help getting started or some tips to follow. Island "experts" in genealogy will be available to help. Keep your eyes open for these opportunities.

If you would like to help out- please call the library so we can start scheduling the workshops. If you are interested in participating, please call us too. Just would be nice to get an idea of numbers. We will have 5 computers available, but if you bring your own and connect with our server it should be available to you too!

Ancestry Library edition is being made available through our NEA Big Read grant and a SUN grant from Charlevoix County Community Foundation.

This is an exciting addition to the BIDL resources! I am looking forward to trying out Ancestry in the spring.

Ancestry has a lot of sources available to help you research family history. If you are interested, come in with at least grandparent information (names, maiden names, dates of birth, death, marriage, location where they lived) all help to get you started in the right place.
see you soon.
