Important Message From USCG

Coast Guard crews will be ice breaking in northern Lake Michigan next week.
Theyâ??ll be out there to help a barge with much needed supplies reach Beaver Island.
On Tuesday the Coast Guard cutters Mackinaw and Mobile Bay will break ice near the island.The Mackinaw will assist a tug from Manistigue to Beaver Island.
The tug is pulling a barge loaded with fuel to replenish the islandâ??s dwindling supply.
The Mobile Bay will prepare tracks to the old Coast Guard Station near Whiskey Point.
Both cutters will then ensure the tug and barge are safely moored before departing.
The Coast Guard wants to remind all those on the ice to plan their activities carefully and to stay away from the shipping channels.

The cutter USCG Mobile Bay is slated to break ice in outer Beaver Island harbor on Tue 2-27.

The escort of the fuel barge is currently set for Wed 2-28.

Just for clarification, Wednesday is not the 31st, it's the 30th because 2018, February is one giant leap for leap year which means it has 30 days to put the earth's rotation back into sync.
I'm going to have to make sure that it doesn't screw up sunset time down here.
