The 2017 Warblers on the Water (WOW) marked its fourth year promoting birding using Beaver Island's diverse habitats. Over the last Memorial Day weekend, presentations offered fascinating glimpses of bird behavior or exotic birding trips to places such as Antarctica and Peru. Our boat trips are a breeze when compared to 48 hours of 50 ft seas to bird Antarctica! Expert field guides offered birding visitors of all levels a satisfying and unique experience. It is always a pleasure to see new faces enjoying Beaver Island. Thank you to all who opened business' early or made our birding visitors feel welcomed.
Planning for the May 2018 WOW Beaver Island Birding Trail festivities is in full swing. Groups began requesting housing and other travel information in September. The Petoskey Area Chamber is interested in promoting an Emmett and Charlevoix County birding event to piggy back on the WOW Memorial Weekend event. BIBT sponsorship letters will be mailed to business' in November for inclusion on the WOW t-shirts and on the BIBT website. Successful events don't just happen, it takes planning and funding. Thank you to all who have contributed in the past.
Michigan birding is being promoted around the country. This is from the Pure Michigan site.
