Linda's mother, Jane Anderson, died Friday, July 18th after a massive stroke and cardiac event on July 7th. Jane dearly loved Beaver Island and spent as much time here as possible before she became too ill to do so. She loved the ferry rides and was here for the christening of the Emerald Isle, helping us collect lilacs for the occasion. Our Christian Church and its stained glass windows were always an inspiration to her. She liked McDonough's Market because it reminded her of when we ran our grocery store, Troutman's Market in PA. She was here for the groundbreaking of the new Community Center digging her little red shovel into the ground with a big smile on her face doing her part to get it started. She even helped us chip paint off the old meat locker door to help Carol Wierenga get Out On a Limb opened. Yes, she truly loved our island and its people. Anyone wishing to do so may make a memorial contribution in her name to the Beaver Island Christian Church Gregg Fellowship Hall or the Community Center.
