There is an upcoming August 8th election being held in Peaine Township. Three issues will be placed before the voters, a renewal for the airport, a renewal for road funding, and funding for Emergency Medical Services.

St. James Township citizens recognized the need for Advanced Life Support Services and successfully passed the required millage. Now, it is Peaine Townships turn to recognize that EMS is vital to residents and visitors. Peaine Township's funding for EMS is currently being taken from the general fund. With passage of the EMS proposal, the general fund millage will then be decreased. The passage of the EMS millage will not result in increased taxes and will separate the EMS budget from the general budget.

Absentee ballots can be obtained from the gas station or by contacting Carla Martin. Registered voters can obtain an absentee ballot by mail with the proper form being submitted by August 5th. Contact Carla for additional information regarding the ballots for August 8th.

Questions should be addressed to the Peaine Township Board which will be meeting on Wednesday, July 12th at 7 p.m. This is the last meeting before the election.
