In 2007, three businesses on Beaver Island decided to offer free EV convenience charging: Paradise Bay Coffee Shop, Stoney Acre Grill & Pub, and McDonough's Market & Dalwhinnie Bakery & Deli.
And in 2008, Island Airways and Central Michigan University's Biological Station on East Side Drive have announced they will begin offering free EV convenience charging too. Charging station signs for these locations will be up before Memorial Day.
On behalf of EV owners and drivers, my thanks to these organizations for supporting clean transportation on Beaver Island.

Make that a total of SIX free charging stations on the island!
The Island Airways station is up and running. It's at the NW corner of the maintenance hangar.
The CMU site should be up by Memorial Day, and Inland Auto EV (Paid Een Og's Road) is also installing a free charging site which should also be up by Memorial Day.
