Thank you from the Gatliff Family

Post by Linda »

We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who helped in some way with the burial of our parents, Georgie and Danny Gatliff, on May 23rd. There was such generous hospitality shown to our family during our time on the Island. We want to thank Danny Gillespie and Danny Johnston for the music on the Emerald Isle, at the graveside and at Jerry's Garage."Danny Boy" will always bring back certain memories of that weekend thanks to the two Dannys! Thanks to Aunt Kathleen and Aunt Aud for having all of us for dinner on Friday. Thanks to Cindi Gillespie Cushman and Ed Palmer for the graveside music and songs and for the music at Jerry's (along with Brian roman and Paul...). We appreciated the Amvets tribute at the grave for our dad's naval service. Thanks to Marie LaFreniere for offering the Garage for the luncheon and for organizing everything connected with it. You were awesome! Thank you, Mary Palmer, for handling the food set up while we were at the cemetary. Thanks to Muggs and Cindi for offering the use of their vehicles, to Loretta for the use of the cabin and to the Islanders who made food and desserts for the luncheon. There were so many considerate folks who had kind words and thoughts for us. Thank you, Jeanne Gillespie, for your assistance with the visitation and the Mass. Thank you, Fr. Pat and Fr. Dan for the lovely Mass and graveside prayers. We appreciated the travelers who came for a day (Tom Jones) and those who came from a far- Tom Cole, Robert Cole, Dickie McEvoy, mom's surviving sibling, Aunt Anna Mae and cousin Bonnie. It goes without saying that Beaver Island has the dearest folks than one could wish to know.
