Bill Thomas RIP

William C. Thomas of Nicholasville, KY, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at his residence after an extended illness, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, & 7 days. He was born Friday, June 28, 1940 in Ecorse, MI, son of the late William Vernon Thomas and Ruth Ann LaCross Thomas.

Bill majored in Architectural Engineering at Lawrence Tech in Southfield Michigan, but his life’s work was as a true Entrepreneur. He began at the young age of 10, successfully developing and selling newspaper routes. Later, he owned a GMC Dealership in Detroit MI, Bill Thomas Heavy Duty Truck Dealership in Lexington, KY, was V.P. of M.T.A.Truck Driving School, Conley, GA, VP of United Truck and Travel School, Titusville Florida, President of Critical Care Nursing Agency, Lex., KY; VP Critical Care and Allied Health, Lex., KY; V.P. Medical Travelers, Cape Coral, FL, and Owner of Emerald Isle Motel, Beaver Island, MI. Bill enjoyed a range of hobbies including sailing, boating, flying, collecting trains, guns, and traveling, He was a pilot and loved traveling with his wife Eula. Bill was a board member of the Cape Coral division of Circus Saints and Sinners, a nonprofit philanthropic organization that contributes to a multitude of worthy charities. He was a loving husband, father, and brother. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Vernon & Ruth Ann Thomas; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Elsie & John Ferguson; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Bradley Stambaugh & Judy Hill; brothers-in-law, Dorsey Bradley and Roger Stambaugh.

He is survived by his wife, Eula Ferguson Thomas, Nicholasville, KY; three children, Sean Thomas, Long Island City, NY, Danielle Thomas, Sarasota, FL, Signè and Ryan DeWind, Zeeland, MI; one sister, Ellen Jean Thomas, Detroit, MI; one brother, James and Char Thomas, Denver, CO; sisters-in-law, Joyce and John Roger Bowlin, Sitka, KY, Karen Ferguson and Claude Albright, Moon, KY,, Valerie and Greg Maiden, Lexington, KY, and brother-in-law, Boyd Hill, Relief, KY. Also four nieces and seven nephews, Evelyn and Chris Aydelott, TN, Bridgett and Ted Randall, FL, Breanna Uebelhor, KY, Makayla and Erik Rieger, KY, Marty and Uneda Bradley,,Chris and Kristi Bowlin, Michael and Mary Ann Bowlin, Jamie and Lisa Hill, Joe and Michelle Hill, Mark and Paige Reed, and Garrett Uebelhor, all of KY. .

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Elder James Wallin officiating. Burial will follow in the Keaton Cemetery, Moon, KY. Visitation from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Sunday.
