C.O.A. on Beaver Island information

Post by Beaver Island COA »

Hello friends,

How come you never see elephants hiding in trees? The answer will follow this brief Charlevoix County Commission on Aging on Beaver Island announcement.

Charlevoix County offices are closed on Monday, June 19, including Beaver island C.O.A. and Transit. Regular hours resume on Tuesday June 20.

Are you close to retirement age and have retirement planning questions? Or are you retired and want to make sense of recent Medicare changes or have questions about changes to the retirement planning laws? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then please join Eric Sorenson and Rory Baker from Bankers Life, on Saturday June 17, 2023, to learn about these recent changes to Medicare and retirement planning laws. They will be at the Beaver Island Community Center for two sessions on Saturday, June 17. Join us at 10:30 a.m. or come to the afternoon session at 1 p.m.

At 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 18 at the Beaver Island Community Center celebrate this Father's Day with your family and others at the BIC Center. Open to fathers and children of all ages. The Emerald Isle Irish Feile Hospitality Committee will be putting on a Sunday Brunch which includes pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and of course, fruit. No payment necessary, however, freewill donation is welcome. Afterwards join us for a mug decorating craft, perfect for kids to gift their fathers on this special day.

From 8-10 a.m. on Fridays at the Beaver Island Community Center there is complimentary coffee and donuts for all those 60 and older. Special thanks to the BIC Center and its staff for their version of COA Coffee Talk event. Enjoy coffee, donuts, good conversation and be sure to thank the BIC Center staff and its continued support of our aging population. For more information about the coffee and donut Fridays at the BIC Center, call 231-448-2022.

The Beaver Island District Library will host the C.O.A. Library Pals reading program. At 1 p.m. on June 27, join us at the library to gather with Beaver Island Community School elementary students for conversation and reading. Questions call 231-448-2124 or call 231-448-2071.

JOKE: How come you never see elephants hiding in trees? ANSWER: Because they are really good at it.
