TDS's internet service continues to comparable to the days of dial up. I tried to have a Zoom meeting ystdy & even with the video off there wasn't enough bandwidth to support a stable connection. According to TDS's speedtest I had 1.1mbps download & 0.1mbps upload.
Today is even worse! Speeds 0.2mbps download/0.4mbps up (not a typo). Ping 162, jitter 891. Beyond horrible. Fyi the FCC reference minimum speeds are 25mbps/3mbps & that's from 2015!
Starting in 2017 TDS accepted $75.1 million per YEAR from the FCC's for the next 10 years to upgrade their rural internet. They are taking our tax dollars & not upgrading their most rural service area in Michigan! I'm writing to the FCC commissioners & TDS's Board, & Congressman Jack Bergman to inquire! There are many upgrades in process but I agree, they have been slow! There have been men on the island the past few weeks installing new pads that are supposed to speed things up. Rumor I heard was possibly by the end of the year! Of course it would depend on your location!
