Nice Courier story.

For the first time in 63 years Elson Spangler will climb aboard a B-17 bomber here on Beaver Island on July 18 at noon.

He will join the Yankee Lady sponsors on a special "vip flight."

For more air show information see the July issues of the Beaver Beacon or NorthernIslander.

The Beaver Island Chamber of Commerce is an air show sponsor,
(231) 448-2505 for information.

The Sunday 7-13 TC Record Eagle Northern Living section will feature a story and photos about Mr Spangler written by Gretchen Murry.

The book "American Flyer" by Elson Spangler can be found at the Beaver Island Library

The Yankee Lady will do a harbor flyover on Friday between 10 & 11AM. We expect they will be down around 500 feet.

Weather and flyover

Post by medic5740 »

So, Steve, is there an alternate plan if the weather continues on the downside? Will the aircraft still land at the township airport with thunderstorms possible?

I don't want to be negative, but the weather doesn't look very good.

Yankee Lady is in Traverse City. She will procede to Beaver as soon as the weather clears.

Sat photos suggest noon a good guess.

Was a great crowd this afternoon when she arrived at 5 to 4:00. Lots of anticipation in the air, but worth the wait to take a look at the plane.

I imagine tomorrow will be an even bigger turnout.
