Veterans Day 2020
Veterans Day is this Wednesday and usually AMVETS Post 46 conducts an observance at the Veterans Park or the School auditorium. This year however with the number of members off the island, high winds expected Wednesday and the unavailability of the school due to Covid we will not be formally observing Veterans Day.
We hope that you remember veterans Wednesday and the sacrifice made by them over the years to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. The Veterans Park has over 600 bricks with the names and service information of individual veterans; take some time someday and look them over to get an understanding of the range of duty assignments that your friends and neighbors did in service to their country.
And thanks from Post 46 for supporting our activities that help veterans on the island and maintain the Veterans Park.

Re: Veterans Day 2020
A big thanks to all the men and woman who have sacrificed so greatly to keep America free and safe! Your service can never be repaid enough. A shout out to my dad for his valiant service in Viet Nam, and still trucking at 78 after being drenched in agent orange; and my cousin Joshua Conine who recently made full bird colonel of Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma; and especially my grandfather who we lost a couple of years ago who worked tirelessly repairing airplanes in WWII. My families stories are the stories of so many American families. God bless you all!

There have been many more bricks placed at this memorial since the video was originally completed in 2012, but it is still an example of the greatness of this Veteran's Memorial on Beaver Island. Here's a link to the video:

Re: Veterans Day 2020
On Behalf of the St James Township board, I express deep appreciation and respect for the many Beaver Island connected veterans who have served our country. Thank you to those who keep the Veteran's Park such a special place of remembrance for all of us. Thanks to all who, over the years, have organized or participated in the moving and beautiful Veteran's Day tribute on Beaver Island; the ceremony will be missed, but the sentiment of thanks and gratitude remains. THANK YOU VETERANS.
