Good morning,
I am assisting one of my residents in a senior living facility in Grand Rapids.
She has a Red Mahogany church pew that was made on, or came from a church on High Island.
Her recollection was that it was made in the 1880's, her and her spouse found it in a wood shed near traverse city and she refurbished it. She mentioned that people used to drill holes in the seats to allow for water drainage when kept outside, but hers is fully intact with no holes.
It still has the center support intact as well.
I have researched online and am coming up empty, she is looking to sell the pew and I would love to learn more about it and locate folks that may be interested.

Could be from the House of David church on High Island. There is a lot about this cult on the internet. They were originally from Benton Harbor, MI; there are probably still a lot of people and materials connected with it in that town. The Beaver Island Historical Society may also be able to help. 231-448-2254 website beaverislandhistory.org
