The Community Center is hoping for a couple more volunteers to greet people while keeping an eye on the upstairs area this summer, from graduation through Labor Day. We need to fill the 6-9 timeframe on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. If you’d be interested in one of those nights, but will be gone a few times, we have several volunteers to substitute for the regulars, so can easily handle your need for an occasional night off.
If you might be willing to help out, please contact me or Nicholas De Laat at the community center. This is as pleasant a volunteer opportunity as you could find. The view is wonderful, some nights are really quiet and you can just read or play on your phone, and the people who use the upstairs are mostly happy vacationers who like to talk to you about what island life is like. Plus you get a free drink and hot dog each night you’re up there!
There is always a staff employee on the premises, usually downstairs, so you’re not alone in charge in the building. We will be happy to meet with you and discuss and explain exactly what’s involved. Thanks to anyone who considers this!
