Lawn Maintenance Bid
2019 Mowing Season

Please consider this document a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) for Lawn Maintenance for Beaver Island Community School (BICS). Sealed bid proposals must be received in the BICS office before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Bids will be opened at 3:31 p.m. on May 1st, all bidders are welcome to be present at the opening.

Beaver Island Community School reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bid proposals.

The scope of this project includes a “spring” cleanup of the grounds, the cutting and trimming of all grass on school grounds approximately once every two or three weeks depending on rainfall and grass growth (including the lawn adjacent to King’s Highway, the playground to the south of the building and the soccer field), periodic clean-up of brush and debris, and cleanup of leaves in the fall (can either be removal or fine mulching). The winning bidder will be determined by no later than May 13, 2019. The spring cleanup and (unless weather forbids it) first mowing shall take place prior to May 24th.

So that proposal documents are consistent among bidders, BICS requests that bid proposals be formatted in the following manner:

1) Flat rate cost of cutting and trimming of all grass on all school grounds (includes removal of grass clippings from sidewalks).
2) Flat rate cost for spring cleanup of the grounds.
3) Flat rate cost for mowing the soccer field only.
4) Flat rate cost for removal of leaves in the fall.

Bids proposed on an hourly basis will not be accepted.

All bid proposals must include a copy of the operator’s current driver’s license, proof of workers compensation insurance (if there are multiple employees), and proof of general liability insurance coverage.

Any qualified bidder who has questions about the scope of this project may contact the BICS superintendent-principal to discuss and review the project prior to preparing and submitting a bid. To set up an appointment, please call (231) 448-2744.

All bid proposals must be received in the BICS office before 3:30 p.m. on Wed., May 1, 2019.
