Re: Thank You For Serving
Someone just called asking that I post more veterans who haven't been mentioned.
Just this past year, we've lost:
Paul Nelson
Lloyd Cochran
Robert Griffith
Kenneth Slater
Thomas LeFevre
Richie Napont
Dick Burris
Vince Pickhardt
Harold Smith
and those we've also lost:
Gene Connaghan
Jerry LaFreniere
Bing McCafferty
Donald "Topper" McDonough
Archie LaFreniere
Bussey LaFreniere
Jerry Sowa
Phil Gregg
and those still with us:
Brett Maudrie
Dan Burton
Dick McEvoy
Pete LoDico
Gerald LaFreniere
Dan Gallagher
Hugh Cole
Rick Bucholtz
Joe Johnson
I know there are many more that we're missing.

Re: Thank You For Serving
Messenger, Thank you for posting a more complete list. If you can contact Alvin, I have heard him many times recite a list of Beaver Island individuals who gave their all for our country. That would be a wonderful addition to this memorial tribute.

All gave some and some gave all, remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, those vets no longer with us and thank those who served.

Re: Thank You For Serving
KK says to thank you for the gesture, but Brian Antkoviak was not in the military.
Re: Thank You For Serving
My apology to KK and Brian for my error. However Brian, you'd make a great Coastie! It's not too late to enlist but I think you do a great job on the Emerald Isle and the island needs your service more than the USCG.

Walt Wojan. Somehow survived 39 months Island hopping in the Pacific in WWII. He’s 94 now and going strong.
