Need to establish high speed internet. Island wide. Reliable, dependable, affordable. Once secured, the island can advertise, promote the fact -- eventually recruit, entice high wage earners from Chicago / Milwaukee / Detroit to bring their families and create a unique, wonderful life on the Emerald Isle. Set a goal -- say 20 families with $150K incomes = a $3M annual (pre-tax) boost to the local economy. These folks are out there. High wage earner professionals in the digital economy. Hating traffic and crime. Looking for a place with positive community values, where they can live and work from home. It will take a concentrated, focused effort to alert, inform them about the island. Can be done. Once the service is in place.
