WHAT IS RESILIENT BEAVER ISLAND?
Resilient Beaver Island is a community master planning process for BI. Through this robust planning effort, the residents and leaders in the community are working together to strengthen the community's ability to manage changes and challenges of all kinds -- and to thrive. This collaborative planning process will result in a new master plan for the Island that will provide guidance for successful, resilient community development in the years to come in light of climate change, costal dynamics, and economic shifts.

WHAT IS COMMUNITY RESILIENCE?
Community resilience is a measure of the sustained ability of a community to respond to, withstand, and recover from adverse situations. Communities that are resilient are able to learn from adversity and adapt quickly to change.

WHAT IS A MASTER PLAN?
A little like a "blueprint", a master plan is the public's guide for the development of a community and the management of its resources.

We look forward to meeting with you! You will hear a short overview of the project followed by two presentations from statewide experts. Community planners from LIAA, a nonprofit community planning organization based in Traverse City, will also facilitate an interactive activity.

All residents are encouraged to get involved and help create a vision for the future of Beaver Island. Local planning processes lay the groundwork for transportation improvements, economic development programs, and community improvement efforts. Public involvement is the key to this planning. times and locations for future public gatherings will be posted on the project website, http://www.resilientmichigan.org/beaverisland
