R.I.P. Dick Winnick

Post by Marge Peters »

Just received a call this morning that Richard (Dick) Winnick passed away this morning in Ypsilanti,Mi. at the age of 72. His brother Bill says he will be putting an obituary in the Ypsilanti paper within the next few days.

Winnick was quite the guy, a rare individual indeed. He had a very kind and generous heart.

The Chicken Shack.( What more be said?)

his "Turtle"

He sharpened knives that were downright dangerous to the unknowing.

Winnick cooked his venison 20 seconds per side

Then there was the time Winnick entered his legal tagged buck at the annual contest that was posted at the Shamrock as follows:

name: Dick Winnick
size: ( can't remember the weight)
rack: 8 pt buck
weapon used: 1968 chevy pick up
The antler impaled radiator hung by his shack for years.

He went over an 8 year stretch without ever leaving the island

He laughed alot.

Dick Winnick will be missed.

Thank you, John, for the memories..also...Rags, his mutt...Dick knew where all the old dumps were, something of a pack rat, metal detected new construction sites on and on
I've missed him since he moved....Peace
