The Invasive Species Summit scheduled for June 14th from 2-5 p.m. at the Community Center is pleased to announce:

Kira Davis from the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa will join us for a presentation of aquatic invasive species and how those species can impact our Island's interior lakes, streams, and fisheries. Kira has been working with LTBB after graduating from Michigan State University beginning in 2000. Ms. Davis holds the position of Water Quality Specialist and works closely with the tribal fisheries on management issues. As the Water Quality Specialist, she is responsible for completion of activities within the Tribeâ??s Surface Water Quality Protection Program (SWQPP). The SWQPP has three major components which are an extensive Surface Water Quality Monitoring Program within waters in and adjacent to the reservation boundaries, education and outreach of the importance of water quality, and representation of LTBB on water quality issues on a local, state, tribal, and national level. She was also the Project Coordinator on the GLRI Paradise Lake Pilot Boat Washing Station Project. The public is invited to attend. No admission fee. Event is sponsored by the Beaver Island Association.
