SOME VERY GOOD NEWS!
In recent conversations with Hightower Engineering Solutions, we were informed of Verizon's plans to replace its existing cell phone tower on Kings Highway in Peaine Township. The new tower will be the same height as the existing one, will be constructed at no cost to the township and will support upgraded equipment that brings "4G" service to the Island.
The more powerful tower and equipment will greatly enhance communications capabilities to and from the Island. It will also be a valuable tool in advancing our Island economy and improving emergency response times.
The dates for installation are not yet determined, but are expected to be within the coming months. For those who don't know the location of the current Verizon Tower--you can see it off to your right when heading south down Kings's Highwasy--shortly after you pass Paid Een Ogs Road. It is located on the site of the first Peaine Township hall. I will share more information with you as it is received.
