Whiskey Point Lighthouse
I posteed a message concerning the deteriorated state of the lighthouse at the point and why nothing has been done and wonder why the person appointed by the township, has really not done really anythoing to maintaqin this structure which has been there for 45-50yrs? Other than the prevention of dampness causing internal decay by allowing air in? and was my understanding that Don Vyse was appointed in charge of restoration.
If you're able and willing to help and would like to get involved in some capacity, please contact Don (his number is listed in the phone book) or St. James Township http://www.charlevoixcounty.org/govern0288.asp or GLLKA http://www.gllka.com/preservation

Seems my last comments were removed and I ststed that it seems all but one that I have seen in reply to this have stepped up to do something yet the township has not allowed the purchase of paint and the rest of the comments have hoped that something would happen or that I should go and do the restoring of what is still standing by myself. looking at the link that was given to me the person appointed to do this wants to restore the house that I understand is burned down and do nothing to the tower until the lighthouse keeper's house is restored. kinda put the Mule behind the cart type of deal. Aned then when it's too late and a for sale sign is on the land the lighthouse stood on then maybe all will realize we should have done something sooner.

HISTORY IS REAL-ESTATE?!?!........, Really or is this the convienient way to bow out of the claim to want to preserve what hiwstory you have or is it pursuit of the all mighty dollar? Explain the Mormon ruins and the bare reamins of the railway that once existed that is basically either a footnote in the books or a bare myth or whisper of what once was. Take it the truth hurts when someone points out that you need to do something and ALL but one reply on this forum has passed the buck and stated not my concern and that it will be fixed but when we do it will possibly be too late. and since the bright wit who stated that History is Real-Estate might also understand that one must pity those who live in a country or in a land where all history has ceased. And to sit there and not do anything is to watch history end.

HISTORY IS REAL-ESTATE!!??!!??,--
Is this statement along the lines of the three slogans of the party as stated in 1984 by Eric Blair (George Orwell)??
So if History is Real Estate? Then is Slavery Freedom, War is Peace, and Ignorance is Strength?
Interesting that someone has chosen to add that as a same mind slogan like Orwell, (Blair) wrote in 1984.
