The only legitimate way to buy or sell firewood is by the full cord - 4'x4'x8' or 128 cu. ft. That is the standard around the country. Anything else is strictly arbitrary. The best you can hope out of a 'face' cord is approx. 1/3 a full cord. If you aren't dealing in full cords my advise is: buyer b...

There is an even better option to solving this dilemma. Just don't do TV! What is there to watch on it anyway? Listen to NPR for your news. Read a newspaper. Get information on-line. The library has free movies for loan. NetFlix isn't that expensive. Share DVDs with friends. Make your own movie. Or ...

Bob -
Congratulations on your anniversary. May I suggest commemorating the event with a portrait at one of the Island's many great landmarks?

Sign in is at 12:30 and tee off is set for 1 pm for the BIRHC outing. Plus - prizes, prizes, prizes. Over $1000 of prizes during play with much, much, more afterwards. It should be a fun day for a good cause.

Keith has a number of boat paintings on display. I have a number of different framed photos as well as five different set of Island notecards and my new b/w photo book. Plus there are prints and photos by other artists.

You'll just have to stop by and see what we have to offer.

Just this morning I heard a report on NPR discussing how we are at the solar minimum which accounts for the low level of solar activity of late, meaning very few sunspots and little solar wind. Since the solar wind is a necessary part of producing any aurora borealis, one would suspect the chances o...

It just hit me that I had Sheri's father-in-law in mind rather than her father. That's what I get for trying to post when I have a head cold. I can't speak for her father's 'old days' but do stand by my defense of my generation's youthful ways and believe today's young people follow in that traditio...

I'm glad the sheriff is on top of this situation and I hope his actions send a message concerning his diligence in such matters to all. I also tip my hat to Mike for giving 'the kids' the benefit of the doubt. As for Sheri's father's comment, I must respectfully disagree. His 'old days' were my days...

What can I say? We were keeping score after all. But Ken is being a bit unfair â?? we did yell at him to wake up a time or two. We're just not sure it had any effect. The event did run late (I'm not that much younger than dirt myself) but the games were hard-fought, challenging, and in the end, ment...

Hmmm. These new rates seem to be fairly arbitrary. I wonder how they were determined â?? what study or what data was collected to determine how much increase was necessary for each of these numerous parking options? Letâ??s review what has happened: The day rate jumped 50% The overnight rate jumped ...

Re: Signs of spring

And.....we saw "our" annual Canadians scouting around McCauley's Bay deciding on where to put the nest this year. Great neighbors! We love to see them and their offspring. I'm wondering, were they from Quebec? Vancouver? Calgary? How do you know they were Canadian? What gave it away? An a...
