I have the same question. Is there an alternative to TDS for internet service on BI? I'm tired of paying $79.90 in fees -- $29.95 internet activation, $35.00 phone activation, and $14.95 handling, that's this summer's package of surcharges -- just to be able to pay $70 a month for internet for 3-4 m...

If either are still available, I might be interested. I have a car on the island with multiple issues that I probably need to give up on. I won't be back for a couple weeks though.

Of course, I don't come to the island to watch TV, either. And it's not worthwhile for a summer visitors to invest in DSL. I just thought I'd look into it for ocassional TV use.

Do digital TV antennas work on the north end of the island? If so, what do you have, what channels are you getting, and what's the quality?

Actually, John, it's still more true that not. If it's very difficult to get cell phone service, bordering on nigh well impossible, then it's very difficult to get cell phone service, bordering on night well impossible.

Given the interest shown on this thread, it looks to me like there's an opportunity here for someone on the island to explore the situation, test equipment and configurations, and do a little business on the side providing the service.

Speaking as a summer-only resident, I'd be interested in knowing why they mailed two notices to my permanent address, asking for information, but failing to include a phone number, email address or any other form of contact information that I could find? What exactly were they expecting me to do?
