I believe it can take anywhere from 6 to 12 hours. If you're sailing around Lake Michigan you'll need to get some good charts, GPS, and a great marine radio. Good Luck

Carp are fun fish
A friend of mine just spent a week out here and the focus of his entertainment was carp spearing. He had a great time skin diving with his mask, snorkel, fins, and spear. Of course catch and release doesn't seem the same after using a spear.
